Q Lake at Movilla

Q Lake at Movilla is rightly seen as one of the best stillwater trout fisheries in Northern Ireland, located close to the town of Newtownards in County Down.

Q Lake is substantial, covering 6 acres, and set in mature woodland surrounded by picturesque open countryside.

The lake is well stocked with top-quality hard-fighting rainbows, some of which are very large. The lake is suitable for anglers of all skill levels — and all are welcome, from complete beginners to seasoned fly fishers looking for a challenge.

The fishery was purpose-designed and offers varying depths, islands, shaded areas, and open water. There are 39 fishing pegs around the c. 1000 metres of bank space, which means fishers have ample space and a sense of seclusion.

The facilities are of high quality, including a spacious, well-gravelled car park for up to 50 vehicles, ensuring the site never feels overcrowded. There are loos, a tackle store, a tuck shop, indoor and outdoor eating areas, and a comfortable, warm hut with complimentary tea and coffee all day, which provides a space to recharge before the next angling target. Rods are available for hire if you don't have your own.
